Dr. Jonathon Cottone

General Dentist

Dr. Jonathon Cottone grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and has deep roots in the Delaware community, having visited Sussex County regularly since childhood to spend time with family. Dr. Cottone earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Delaware, where he graduated Cum Laude with a double major in Plant Science and Animal Science. He was recognized as the Plant Science Student of the Year and conducted advanced research on plant roots at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute in Newark, Delaware.

Dr. Cottone pursued his dental education at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, where he graduated in the top quarter of his class. His dedication to excellence was acknowledged through several awards, including the GP Directors Award in General Dentistry and the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Dental Student Award.

Following dental school, Dr. Cottone completed a VA Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency. This transformative experience allowed him to hone his skills as a general dentist, gaining extensive expertise in extractions, crown and bridge work (with a particular affinity for gold crowns), anterior and bicuspid endodontics, dental treatments for sleep apnea, and comprehensive treatment planning for adult and geriatric populations. After his residency, Dr. Cottone also broadened his expertise by working at a pediatric dental practice in southern Maryland, where he provided care for patients ranging from toddlers to teenagers. With his diverse training and experience, Dr. Cottone is well-equipped to care for patients of all ages, from 1 to 100.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Cottone, an Eagle Scout, enjoys exploring the natural beauty of Sussex County by bike, particularly in Cape Henlopen State Park. He has a passion for history, plays the piano in his spare time, and is an avid adventurer who enjoys rock climbing, swimming, and backpacking. Dr. Cottone is excited to bring his wide-ranging expertise and compassionate care to the Peninsula Dental team, serving the Sussex County community he has cherished for years.
